Cubicle Love
Thursday, August 16, 2012

When I recently moved floors to a new desk space (with more natural light, hooray!) I took the opportunity to make my work home a little brighter. Considering I spend most of my waking hours at work and how easily my mood is affected by my environment, it seemed like the perfect time to make my desk be more than just file folders and stacks of papers. Like my happy new digs?
My desk musts:
- Glossy white floating frames. A few photos, a bright travel calendar from Etsy, and a stamped pennant from when I climbed Mount Fuji. Nothing says "I can do it!" like a physical "I climbed a mountain!" reminder, right?
- Sunny lamp from West Elm
- Cubicle wallpaper. I found discounted fabric from Jo-Ann Fabrics and hung it up by folding and pinning the borders of my wall with tacks like a hem.
- Living things. Nothing brings life to a ho-hum desk more than a cute terrarium from Etsy and my favorite cyclamen plant.
- Grass charging station to reign in and tame cords.
- Monogrammed mug from Anthropologie, a great Christmas present from a colleague!
- Japanese paper trays and boxes to organize pens, paper clips and for me, all my errant bobby pins.
- Voluspa candle. Beautiful, and it smells great even if you can't light it.

The grass charging station is a nice touch. Definitely bookmarking that.
I love what you did to your cubicle! I recently decorated mine too: http://aoonthego.blogspot.com/2012/11/cubicle-decor.html
Thanks, Ashley! I love your cubicle makeover too!
Love it! where did you get your glossy floating frame?
Love your cubbie! Where did you get that shelf?
Thanks, Lauren and Helen!
Helen - I got the floating frames from West Elm. They had them in black and white before, but now it looks like they have wooden ones. I just took out the mat because I liked my photos and prints just floating. http://www.westelm.com/products/freestanding-wooden-frames-d087/?pkey=cpicture-frames&cm_src=picture-frames||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_--_-
Lauren - I actually scavenged for that shelf, but you can find that easily on Amazon! Just search mesh desktop shelf. Here's one that looks exactly like the one I had: http://www.amazon.com/Rolodex-22397-Off-Surface-Shelf-Black/dp/B00006IALH/ref=sr_1_51?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1356227236&sr=1-51&keywords=desk+accessories+mesh
Hope that helps! Share links of your desks when you're done - I'd love to see them!
Hi,
I just got a new job and my cubicle is huge. It looks absolutely empty, ugly and boring. I was searching for cubicle decor and came across your blog. I absolutely love what you did there. Can you please tell me where it is that you got that paper /fabric from to cover the cubicle walls?
Thanks so much.
Hi, Amber! Thanks for your comment. I think having a huge cubicle is a good thing! I found the fabric on clearance at a Jo-Ann Fabrics store in a bin. However, they also have it on their website here: http://www.joann.com/home-decor-print-fabric-pkaufmann-cross-section-charcoal/zprd_02318608a/
Hope that helps! Share photos of your decor when you're done. :)
I recently took a new job and have a cubicle that I share with another person. I LOVE how you decorated yours and it gave me some great inspiration to decorate my half. Thank you!
Thanks, Ginger! Happy spaces at work are always a good thing. :)
Hi Robin,
Your cubicle decor is so pretty and cleanly organized. I love it and it's inspiring me to transform my boring work space as well. Can you please let me know where I can find the Japanese paper trays/boxes? They look so simple, but makes quite an impact. Thanks!
Hi Penni - Thanks for your comment! The paper trays are actually something I got on a trip to Tokyo at a store called, Ito-Ya, in Ginza. I know, not super helpful!
The only thing I could suggest is looking into lucite trays - they come in a ton of colors and can look poppy against a stark white desk or office space. Or try organize.com?
